As the autumn leaves descend to the grounds surrounding us and the evening chill creeps in, our minds turn to thoughts of cozy gatherings, hearty meals, and cranberry sauce's rich, tangy delight. This vibrant condiment is more than just a traditional holiday staple — it's a symbol of the season's magic, a reminder of fond memories spent huddled around the table, and the sweet-tart embodiment of our gratitude for life's simple pleasures.

Every recipe at the Brimly Test Kitchen has a story, and our Ginger Cranberry Sauce is no exception. It all started with a simple quest - to create a cranberry sauce that was not only bursting with flavor but also catered to our gluten-free readers. The journey wasn't without its fair share of trials and "well-almost-doesnt-exactly-cut-it" moments. From scouring local markets for the freshest cranberries to refining the perfect ratio of ginger for that unique savory kick, each step was a learning experience. And after numerous recipe iterations and countless taste tests, we finally struck what we like to call "cranberry sauce redemption" - a robust and flavorful sauce that instantly became a Brimly classic. As you prepare this sauce, remember you're not just following a recipe, you're partaking in a piece of Brimly's cherished relishing history.

Ingredients

12 oz cranberries, fresh

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

1 Tbsp. fresh ginger, grated

1 tsp. orange zest

1 Tbsp. orange juice, fresh

Recipe Steps

Step 1

Rinse the cranberries and remove any stems or blemished berries.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, and water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.

Step 4

Add the grated ginger, orange zest, and orange juice to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

Step 5

Continue simmering the sauce for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to blend together.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the cranberry sauce cool to room temperature. It will thicken further as it cools.

Step 7

Once cooled, transfer the ginger cranberry sauce to a jar or airtight container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Step 8

Serve the gluten-free ginger cranberry sauce alongside your favorite dishes, such as roasted turkey, chicken, or even as a spread for sandwiches.
