1 tsp. kosher salt

½ tsp. black pepper

½ tsp. garlic powder

½ tsp. onion powder

½ tsp. paprika

¼ tsp. cayenne pepper (optional)

1 egg

½ cup water

vegetable oil

¼ cup gluten-free gochujang (Korean chili paste)

2 Tbsp. no-soy-soy-sauce

2 Tbsp. rice vinegar

2 Tbsp. honey

1Tbsp. sesame oil

1 tsp. grated ginger

2 cloves garlic, minced

green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Recipe Steps

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix the corn starch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).

Step 2

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and water.

Step 3

Dip each chicken wing into the egg mixture, then coat in the corn starch mixture. Shake off any excess.

Step 4

Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F.

Step 5

When working in batches, fry the chicken wings for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 6

Whisk together the gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until the sauce has thickened slightly.

Step 7

Toss the fried chicken wings in the spicy Korean sauce until fully coated.

Step 8

Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot. Then, enjoy your delicious and spicy Korean fried chicken!
